Richard Douglas Goodhart, 62, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at St. Vincent Heart Center, Carmel, IN.
Rich was born December 22, 1963, in Brazil, IN, to Robert and Edith Goodhart.
Rich served his country in the United States Marine Corp. reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant of an A-4 ground crew. After retiring from the military, he assumed the roles of business owner and machinist, continuing his father’s business, Reliable Drill Grinding in Brazil.
After retirement, Rich enjoyed staying busy with various mechanical projects and spending time with his family, especially doting on his grandson, Jack.
Rich was devout in his faith and lived his life according to those values. He was kind and caring, he lived humbly, but always found a way to give to those who needed it.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles, most recently Aunt Martha and Uncle Donald Bosma, his brother-in-law Jeff Bennett, and nephew Justin Goodhart.
Survivors include his sons James (Cynthia) Goodhart and Samuel “Jake” Goodhart, his former wife and friend Sara Goodhart, his grandson Jack Richard Goodhart, brothers Robert Daniel (Pat) Goodhart Jr., Ron (Lorna) Goodhart, Russell (Julia) Goodhart, sisters Mary Elizabeth Stanley, Barbara Bennett, Connie (Jim) Yarber, Paula (Dennis) Sutton, Laura (Gary) Tilson, and Donna (Tim) Miller, sixteen nieces and nephews, and six great nieces.
A Celebration of Life service will take place from 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday, from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
